Growing futures together
Our highest giving priority
Giving Day is Selwyn’s highest giving priority and the first gift we ask of our community each year. Gifts from alumni, parents, family, faculty and friends provide unrestricted funds that make up 20% of the entire school budget. Your participation is an investment in Selwyn’s future, and it encourages others to join you in giving back.

“Selwyn depends on gifts like yours.”
Your gift meets current needs on campus and enriches the day to day intellectual, social and personal development of every student.
Why the Annual Fund matters
We see you. Thank you for the many roles you play in the Selwyn community. If you have given before, you know Giving Day and the Annual Fund are a critical resource for daily life here.
Tuition does not cover the full cost of a Selwyn education, and it is not meant to. Giving closes the difference.
Gifts support the faculty, the programs and the room to try something new that make a Selwyn year what it is.
Every student, PreK through 12th grade, gets what they need to do their own best work.

Yes. Selwyn is a registered nonprofit, so unlike tuition, gifts made to Giving Day are tax deductible. To maximize the tax deductibility of your gift, consider a gift of appreciated stock. We will gladly provide the details.
Selwyn understands that the cost of tuition is a significant factor in the educational choices of parents. We do everything we can to moderate that cost. Part of that effort includes relying on the generous contributions of our families, friends, staff and alumni through campaigns like Giving Day.
For the 2026 to 2027 school year, tuition covers 80% of the cost of educating a Selwyn student. Giving Day donations are vital to closing the remaining gap.
Like most independent schools seeking to moderate the cost of enrollment, tuition covers only a portion of our operating budget. With a funding gap of $2,500 per student, 20% of our budget, your generosity on Selwyn’s Giving Day is critically important to filling this gap.
Selwyn directs Giving Day, a donation drive that provides financial support for the current school year’s operations. Parents, grandparents, school leadership, faculty and staff, alumni, corporations and foundations are all invited to contribute. Three reasons it matters:
Selwyn invests every gift directly back into the educational needs of current students and into developing alumni support. Every gift counts, whatever its size.
Yes. If you would like to pledge a total donation and then realize it in recurring gifts, contact Paul Mignini, Director of Finance and Operations, at PMignini@selwynschool.com or 940-382-6771.
Every dollar, 100%, covers operational expenses that directly affect student education. Any funds received beyond the goal support and expand student activities, educational programs, capital improvements and staff resources.
Giving Day mirrors Selwyn’s focus on one school growing futures together. Your student benefits when surrounded by community support from parents, grandparents, teachers and staff, alumni and friends. To fully close the gap between tuition and expenses, donors would contribute $2,500 per student. But please understand, every gift counts. It is all about each family contributing its Individual Best, since we are growing futures together, just as we ask the students to give their individual best each day.
The fundraising campaign kicks off in late August, encouraging families to donate or pledge to Giving Day, which is on October 6, 2026. Selwyn requests donations on or close to this date as part of this campaign. All donations are gratefully accepted throughout the year. Give whenever and however is best for your family.
Family names are recognized on an honor roll on the school website. Individual donation amounts are confidential and are never listed. Let us know if you would like your family’s giving to remain anonymous.
Thanks to our incredible community, Selwyn has surpassed its Annual Fund goal several times. Selwyn would invest excess funds into such things as an endowment, to help reduce future operational costs, and into needs that arise above and beyond the budgeted goal.
A successful Giving Day allows the school to think beyond the day to day finances and dream big. In the past, key items such as financial aid and ancillary student expenses, faculty support and crucial facility and campus upkeep have been underpinned by an exceptionally robust Annual Fund. Unrestricted giving benefits the entire campus and elevates the experience of every Unicorn.
Both, and participation does more work than people expect. Greater Giving Day participation motivates greater community morale and involvement. Everyone has their own capacity to give, and one of our goals is giving from 100% of student families.
Participation also opens doors. Most applications for outside funds and grants ask about participation in fundraising from across our community, so a strong turnout on Giving Day widens what the school can pursue next.
Selwyn does not require parents to donate, as we believe that giving should be voluntary. Being a nonprofit, independent school, we believe our community understands that their ongoing support, above and beyond tuition, will help to maintain and grow the school’s impactful programs, through financial contributions, volunteering, and sharing their Selwyn experience within their circles of influence. Giving and impact are the Selwyn way, on campus and in the world.
Giving to other efforts that benefit Selwyn students and teachers is a wonderful show of support. Giving Day and the Annual Fund are an actual line item in Selwyn’s annual operating budget. Quite simply, this money needs to be raised to balance the budget. Giving Day donations ensure Selwyn continues to provide a high quality learning environment, faculty professional development, and learning opportunities that help all students reach their potential. Every family has a vested interest in maintaining our school.
